Ford?

Hey Henry,
How about just making your vehicles run? Every Ford I have had winds up being pushed down a street. Now, I can have Wi-Fi in a car that I push down the street. That is why I have a Honda now......

A) Family has always owned Fords, never had to "push one down the street".

B) Please don't make someone post all the issues Honda has had with their vehicles.

On point, this could be a good thing for those who need wifi on the road for work, however I can also see it being abused by idiots who try to use it while the car is moving.

I have 2 Fords and a Honda!
Keeping my fingers crossed that I won't have to push any of them down the street!

Perhaps you should look up recent Consumer Reports surveys that have the Ford Fusion matching the reliability of Honda and exceeding that of Toyota.

While you're at it, why don't you look at the massive recall Honda has launched recently for Accords that spit metal shards into occupants when the airbags are deployed...

No company is infallible, but Ford has been doing really well these past few years, ranking among the best in the industry.

My last Ford Tarus 'The Bull Car' had 3 transmissions and 2 engines by 120,000 miles.
Let's see in 5 years were that Ford Fusion is. I also own a 2008 Subaru Tribeca. With 0 problems in 2 years. It is going to the repair shop in a few days to repair the mirror my wife sheared off.

Google Honda Transmission and be prepared for an eye opener. Apparently they can't figure out how to make a transmission last either.

Not only is Ford making cars that rival or beat the quality of imports now, but their resale value is on the rise. Where is GM (Government Motors) and Chrysler? Fords stock has gone from a measly 52 week low of $1.50 a share to its current $9.77.

Honda repair many of the transmissions for free. My Odyssey had the transmission fix when I purchased it. It is great family car, and no problems.

That's why I own a avalanche and a suburban now. The last "good" ford I had was my Explorer sport-trac. I won't mention the escape. Click on the "Your fired" link at the bottom of this post to see what I think of the "Escape" experience.

I just wished I would have "escaped" sooner.

David you got a bad deal for sure. The 2003 Escape I traded off had 65000+ on it. Replaced two parts. Something in the seatbelt that would disable the Airbag and throttle sensor.

Good luck with that Avalanche the two guys at work can not get rid of theirs fast enough. They say after all the loaner cars they have got to drive they will be well versed in GM vehicles.

Like me with Fords my Dad has never had a bad GM vehicle so there you go.

LOL Honda LOL well LOL forget it not worth it.

I've owned two Fords: a 1990 Ford Tempo and a 1998 Ford Mustang. The Tempo was solid; the Mustang was garbage (brakes needed to be replaced 3 months after I bought it. My current Altima is 6 months old and still stops on a dime after numerous road trips in mountainous regions).

The newer, non-legacy Fords have been getting high ratings though, mostly the Fusion. If it weren't for that dog ugly front grill I'd probably have bought one.

Funny you mention that my '05 avalanche has been a solid vehicle. I just hit 100,000 miles on it and so far most I have done is put new tires on it. It runs solid.

The 2003 suburban we have right now is a solid vehicle as well. so far the only major problem we had with it was the cluster panel which the dealer fixed before he could sell it.

Short of that everything works on it.

I am losing the craze of wanting to buy new vehicles anymore. Tired of the loan payments and frankly if I can't say "It's mine" and mean it, then I would be no better than leasing a vehicle.

Next time I get the "new car craze" I am going to see what the advantages at the time of leasing vs. buying.

Ford makes great cars ... they are just not sold in the US unfortunately. The Focus ST, Mondeo, S-Max, with bunch of great reliable and efficient diesel engines (except the ST which has a Volvo Turbo monster). They cost more money because they are built much better with higher quality materials, but the european consumer has leaned to appreciate the overall value of a well engineered and built vehicle.

In the US most car shoppers look at car commercials, cup holders and stereos ... that's why we get CRAPOLA here.

Edit: Thank god we are at least getting the Fiesta, but no 60 mpg diesel engine. It totally kills Prius on the fuel economy.

Well, we've completed the 4th year already, in case you hadn't noticed. The Ford Fusion was introduced in 2006.

And according to Consumer Reports, "We expect reliability to be much better than average, according to our latest subscriber survey." The 4-cylinder Fusions in particular rate 55% above the industry average for reliability.

I'm looking at the 2006 model year Fusions on Consumer Reports right now. All categories rate "very good/excellent", with only paint/trim and squeaks/rattles rating "good".

Meanwhile, the 2006 Suburu Tribeca seems to have suspension problems.

LOL there Avalanche's are newer so that maybe the problem. My Dad has had GM's for years and only had two that had trouble. A 76 Trans-Am and a 95? Olds Aurora. Both new at there time. I only had one Ford I had trouble with. It was a 2000 Focus SE. I lemon lawed it. LOL I drove the loaner Focus more then my own.
I have a 08 Fusion SEL now. It replaced my 07 Fusion SE that got beat to hail in March of 08. I really like the SYNC that it has. My poor 1984 Capri never gets drove now.

See... that's where I disagree... why can't we have the 60mpg engine.

If foreign investors were smart enough they would develop a way to get the diesel engine in the festiva and sell it to the U.S. market. Keep in mind looking at the fuel economy of course.

You disagree with Ford I assume for not brining the engine, not me. Check out this link: »jalopnik.com/397712/diesel-ford-···-625-mpg

Part of the problem lies with the gas stations. There is a significant push to the cheapest gas possible, regardless of what it does to your vehicle. 87 octane is at rock bottom prices, diesel was the lowest for a moment, then it skyrocketed just as high as the rest of them.

The Jetta TDI which is the most notable current diesel vehicle has had some solid commercials and marketing, including some shared marketing from MythBusters, and it still isn't getting the exposure it likely deserves. My opinion is that's more about the price than the tech, but whatever.

Also, diesel is remembered as a"dirty" fuel, associated with emissions. Not that it's true these days of technology, but I think a lot of buyers are making that association. Big rigs use diesel as well and they spew all sorts of fumes. Obviously that's not the fuel's fault, but that's the perception, likely.

I'm sorry to say but if they want diesel to take off in the US, the need to speak the language of the Americans. Those cars have to be significantly cheaper than their regular-fuel counterparts. Obviously that will gut regular car sales. It's a lose-lose situation.

I agree diesel gets a lot of bad rap, hell for the longest in this country's history we had diesel for submarines and ships (thinking WWII here).

Then again we were not as conscientious on the enviroment as we are now. However to that argument we have bio-diesel.

Truthfully at 60mpg you could reduce pollution, least I would think you would.

it's a interesting argument though.
