Re: Ford needs to re-FOCUS on the primary function of the car

said by sam64:

In their drive to out do every other automobile manufacturer, Ford has forgotten the primary function of the automobile - to provide a safe, effective means of personal transportation.

I recently had the misfortune of once again getting a Ford vehicle when I recently was away on a business trip. In the past I attributed the problems I had to the general maintenance and upkeep by the rental car companies.
First of all it was a rental vehicle so what is Fords place in this? They have NO control over the idiots that drive and in most cases abuse rental cars. If Ford was such a poorly built vehicle than why is their resale values rising hire than imports and the quality matching or beating the imports as well? Plus they are NOT government owned such as your beloved GM or Chrysler.

If 7K miles of bad driving did this one in then it certainly speaks to the quality (or lack thereof) of their builds.

Ford's place in this is that they built the car - I can understand a rental with many miles on it but 7K miles is almost new.

GM is not my favorite either - but their cars do seem to fare a little better esp. when they have so few miles on them.

Chrysler is pure junk. I have had a car made by them too - nice looking but basically porr quality junk.

Fair enough. My point is if Ford DIDN'T build cars of quality and/or a better management, why didn't they require a bail out from the Government?
