cellphone cancer

bull crap, what about the routers in our houses, and microwaves everywhere, and radio waves, and cell towers, blue tooth, etc etc. all of a sudden cell phones are to blam, not likely, we where screwed with the first discovery of radio/radio waves. and lets not forget the natural accruing solar and background radiation out there.

Are you putting the sun right next to your ear?

Re: cellphone cancer

no but the sun puts out far more radiation than any cell phone

Re: cellphone cancer

But per knowall's point - sun radiation's impact on the body is much less than microwave radiation coming from a phone pressed against your skin.

Actually given the risk posed by skin cancer, it's a hell of a lot more dangerous than something which only puts off radio waves. Remember, radio waves are too big to directly mess with your DNA, all they can do is heat it. The sun produces gives UVC radiation in quantity which can tear your genetics a new one.

As far as I'm concerned if we can't prove that something at least doubles the rate of cancer in a normally healthy age group (living longer until you die of cancer should not be considered a cause of cancer in 110 year olds for instance) then we have no business shouting about it. Remember, even oxygen causes cancer (and is a potent carcinogen at that), but I would rather breathe than suffer the alternative.

Well, *if* the link between brain tumors and cell phone use is proven, your statment would be patently false, wouldn't it?

Re: cellphone cancer

It could mean one of three things:

1. It could mean I am wrong.
2. It would mean that there is another form of radiation involved.
3. It could mean that some indirect action of radio waves increases cancer risk by say: increasing temperature or stimulating some random enzyme chain within brain cells.

Part of science is being able to put forward falsifiable theories and statements. If we can prove that this increases cancer risk then it looks like I'm wrong. It also would mean that every piece of wireless technology we have is likewise increasing our risk of every form of cancer (unless for some reason only brain cells hate radio waves).

In the end it's easy for someone to prove me wrong once we have a solid definitive study because we will see the incident of brain tumors shoot up rapidly over the next twenty years if cell phones can cause it. The question is, if this doesn't happen and if no proof does come out how many people who claim there is a link will admit that they were wrong, instead of claiming that there was a cover-up?

You forgot every 120v wire in the walls of your house, whether there is a load connected or not is giving off radiation.

Re: cellphone cancer

You forgot that those wires are not pressed up against your face.
You also forgot that the "radiation" you mentioned does not compare to a radio (microwave) transmitter like a cell phone.
