they "may" cause cancer, or herpes, or wet feet.
do they need warning labels for all of those things? -- sbcglobal.net speedtest result 11/11/09 - 5256kbps |

SLDPremium join:2002-04-17 San Francisco, CA 2 edits | Ya know what? Most kids get taught that they *may* get hit by a bus if they walk into the street before looking.
Are you being informed that the phone you hold next to your head *may* give you a tumor and end your life?
Why bother teaching anyone things if they are not certain to happen? |

| bah. i have a solution. just don't keep the thing stuck to the side of your head all the time.
a good time not to use it is when your driving. biggest pet peeve of mine by far is people that are on their phone when they drive. i'm talking about all of them. bluetoothers included. -- sbcglobal.net speedtest result 11/11/09 - 5256kbps |

| reply to FBGuy said by FBGuy:there is no substantial proof that cell phones cause cancer. Until there is scientific evidence Cell Phones increase cancer risk I think it is inappropriate to force manufactures to include a health warning about possible effects. That sets a dangerous precedent.
I find it curious folks are so worried about cancer risk but pretty much ignore well documented risk of using a cell phone while driving. Guess the C word is scarier then getting splattered over the highway.

My pet peeve too. 90% of people cannot drive and talk on cell phones at the same time, yet they think they can. It's a plague here on Long Island NY.
Put warning labels on cell phones to warn people about something that has no basis, then let them drive whilst they are yakking on their phones about nothing, half of them without seat belts on, both things are probably ten thousand times more dangerous that cell phone radiation. |

Cell Phone Industry (early 21st century): "There is no substantial proof that cell phones cause cancer."
Any questions?
And of course, most users of the aforementioned products want to believe the industry shills, because they are addicted to the products in question (although in different ways - the first is a physical addiction, the second is more psychological). |

Any questions? You forget even though the industry stonewalled to the bitter end there was compelling scientific evidence that tobacco was linked to cancer. As far as I know there is no scientific evidence of a cancer like to cell phone use.

You know that driving warning label would have to be in a conspicuous place, so perhaps we can put it right on the windshield somewhere so you see it. : ) -- TheGlobalMind.com / Speed costs money. | reply to SLD So let's apply this 'logic' (LOL) to other things:
-labels on all gas containers and cars, cause glass burn -warnings that you can choke on food -warnings that you can drown in pools and most any body of water -more warnings on food that it may cause an allergic reaction -warning on oxygen in the air that it helps stuff to burn and breathing it may cause hyperventilation -warning that a book maybe be heavy and could hurt your foot if you drop it -warning that eating junk food and drinking soda can lead to diabetes, obesity, and all sort of 'fun' health problems
and so on. |

SLDPremium join:2002-04-17 San Francisco, CA | We already have many of those warnings. Others you typed won't cause permanent harm to the body (dropping a book?) The last one should be properly taught or warned. |

Also, I would stay on the side of caution knowing that humans have differing abilities to absorb radiation. |

Others you typed won't cause permanent harm to the body (dropping a book?) yes dropping a book. if the book is very large and heavy, dropping it on your foot could break your large toe. your toes are critical to balance and walking and while you can relearn how to do that without your toes, the fact that you dropped the book is what caused the issue. |
