Re: I simply wonder So let's apply this 'logic' (LOL) to other things:
-labels on all gas containers and cars, cause glass burn
-warnings that you can choke on food
-warnings that you can drown in pools and most any body of water
-more warnings on food that it may cause an allergic reaction
-warning on oxygen in the air that it helps stuff to burn and breathing it may cause hyperventilation
-warning that a book maybe be heavy and could hurt your foot if you drop it
-warning that eating junk food and drinking soda can lead to diabetes, obesity, and all sort of 'fun' health problems
and so on. |

if the book is very large and heavy, dropping it on your foot could break your large toe. your toes are critical to balance and walking and while you can relearn how to do that without your toes, the fact that you dropped the book is what caused the issue. |

sadly, there was a bill suggested that there be a "fat tax" on "junk" food to offset the fat-related diseases that medicare/medicaid recipients get paid for.

I share your concern of excessive use of warning labels - the practice has become self defeating because the average product has so many trivial ones I'm sure people miss the really important ones.
The Cell phone ban is in an entirely different league, because so far there is no evidence the RF is dangerous.

Only way to do that is to actually ban it, extra tax does very little to deter and a lot to add money to the governments coffers. If you have an issue where you don't think there are enough taxes you can write the various government checks and give them more money, it is in your power. |

taxes are not designed to deter or modify society traits, but to pay for government operations. Thats why some states don't have income taxes (WA for one) and others dont have sales taxes (NH for one). To use your thinking, the sales taxes you pay for your clothing should deter you from buying clothing. Therefore, that must mean that the state wants you to run around naked... or how about the sales tax you pay on your car? that must mean that the state wants you to walk everywhere. Or how about the tax on fuel? that must mean that the state AND fed wants you to capture your farts to burn in your car.... no... taxes are to pay for the operation of the government and ONLY to pay for the government. all these fluff programs need to be deleted. if you are fat, than fix yourself. If you can't, then do the world a favor and take 2 to the chest...
