These were all forwarded from Gmail & AOL to Mediacom. On the 18th all of our accounts seemed to be working, now they are not. the 18th is the last time we have been able to receive from these accounts.
I get email from other places, but not these.
Edit, I CAN receive emails that are New/Direct, But she is trying to forward important emails(From AOL & Gmail), and the forwarded mail vanishes. |

I just tried to forward emails from aol and gmail that had lots of pictures and they went through no issues. I also tried to forward emails that I thought were not spam and I got a bounce back message on those emails stating " ----- Transcript of session follows ----- ... while talking to smtp.mediacombb.net.: >>> DATA 552 5.2.0 Spam Message Rejected ! 554 5.0.0 Service unavailable
Final-Recipient: RFC822; ********@mediacombb.net Action: failed Status: 5.2.0 Remote-MTA: DNS; smtp.mediacombb.net Diagnostic-Code: SMTP; 552 5.2.0 Spam Message Rejected ! Last-Attempt-Date: Tue, 22 Dec 2009 10:13:50 -0500

I removed the email addresses that I sent the email to. By any chance did a message like this happen to go into a spam folder. MAILER-DAEMON@aol.com and mailer-daemon@googlemail.com were the addresses that the bounce back were sent from. Would it be possible to try coping the email that is trying to be forwarded into a new message to see if that email goes through?
Now that I have looked at the email it was spam but gmail received this email.
Edited to give update on email that bounced back |

 | I'm still getting the following error:
Send test e-mail message: Cannot send the message. Verify the e-mail address in your account properties. The server responded: 550 5.1.0 sender must authenticate for off network
This is just using the mediacom servers to send e-mail, their support has said I don't need a mediacom e-mail address to send from their servers so how exactly am I meant to authenticate without one? |

qcarm join:2009-12-18 Davenport, IA 1 edit | Beans - Off network needs to authenticate otherwise they would be an open relay for spammers. Cell phones are off network of course.
If you are sending this physically from your home then Mediacom does not have your IP address listed as in-network.
If you are really off network then you would need one valid login account. |

The way that you authenticate is by using the off net settings. Those settings are Server: mail.mediacombb.net Incoming port 995 ssl yes Outgoing port 465 ssl yes Username is your full mediacombb.net email address. |

1 edit | reply to Beans Beans,
Are you sending from home on a Mediacom internet connection? If so, you should change your e-mail account setting to NOT use Secure Authentication to send. |

But I don't have a mediacom email address so no username. I've never needed one for the 2 years I've used the servers to send outgoing email. When this all started I assumed I needed a mediacom e-mail account now but when I asked mediacom e-mail support I got the following response:
Thank you for your email. You do not need a Mediacom email account in order to send out using our server for another account. However our email server name did change. You will need to change the outgoing server name to mail.mediacombb.net in order to use it now. If you would like a Mediacom email account though please call 866-452-4747 and a Live Rep can create one for you. This is sending from my home using my mediacom connection. With SSL switched off it just times out. So are the internet support guys giving me duff information and I do need a mediacom e-mail account? |

Yes you need a mediacom email address to be able to send emails out. One of the things that Mediacom is doing to help cut down spammers from using the new Mediacom mail server is verifying that you are an actual customer. To get a mediacom email address you will need to go to »maestro.mediacomcc.com/walledgarden and setup the primary account from there. If you already have a primary email address but have no clue what the password is then you will need to contact the internet support group. |

Thanks, that's exactly what I needed, no idea why your support person gave me duff information then. I created an account and it now seems to work. Though the page did blow up when I hit submit when creating the account but it seems to have created the account anyways. |

Ok, which is it? I am using old settings to send on-network which require no authentication. I am NOT authenticating and sending promptly on-network to non-MCHSI domains (yeah).
The delay is only to MCHSI domain. You can't tell me that there are different authentication requirements to different recipients on-network. The mail host either accepts the traffic or it doesn't. |
