kudos:12 | Win for Android Platform This is just another win for the Android platform, but the device isn't meant to compete with the Droid and isn't necessarily faster. Android 2.1 is running on this device and when you see it hacked onto a Droid, the Droid is stunningly faster than the Droid running 2.0.1. Secondly, I'll never, ever own a phone with just a software keyboard again. They suck. Bad. And third, T-Mobile? No thanks.
So while this isn't meant to compete with the Droid, the HTC Hero/Droid Eris sales number might be cannibalized when the phone comes to CDMA/LTE however.

Actually Matt, the Nexus One prototype is faster. It has a 1 Ghz processor and capable of wireless broadband speeds up to 7.2 Mbps. T-Mobile is upgrading their network to 7.2 Mbps and faster next year.
This might actually be the first phone capable of handling such speeds thanks to the Snapdragon processor.
The Droid is fast enough, but this one is definitely faster.
I know some of us old bags will insist on a physical keyboard till the day we die, but the younger generation seems to have adjusted to the touchscreen only experience. I believe they will continue to get better and better in time. | |

As noted in the comments, a 1GHz Snapdragon (the rumored chip in the Nexus One) is roughly on par with the Cortex A8 550Mhz chip in the Droid. It's not about Megahertz or Gigahertz, it's about IPC. There are lots of Cortex A8 to Snapdragon comparisons out there.
As to your T-Mobile inclusion, yes, T-Mobile's new upgrades will be faster, but who cares if it's barely available anywhere?

My family lives in a gprs area and that is horribly slow. its still fast enough that everything works, but i have high latency.
i do agree with your point though. tmo hasn't bought up as much as vzw or at&t though so I accept their current situation.

kudos:12 | Re: Win for Android Platform Both my brother and sister have T-Mo and are very happy with it. They never travel however but when they do, it's international so GSM is ideal for them.
