I think you might be jumping the gun a bit on the Apple conspiracy. Verizon & Sprint launched their first Android handsets within the last 2 months. The Sony Android phone is headed to AT&T next year I believe. HTC's leaked GSM roadmap for next year shows several models that support AT&T 3G frequencies.
