Gizmodo is hilarious!

But they do have a point. ISPs want as much of your money per month as they can get, so they'll steer you toward the fastest and most expensive speed they can.

But like it says, you have to know your own browsing habits before you can pick a speed.

For me it's speed and price. And since I'm Comcast, it's 22/5 for 67.95 a month. I could go for the 50/10, but not without giving up a few other things I like doing.

Nicely put together article and they do make a good point.

The article is only comparing speeds to uses. Which isnt the limit.

The real limit is the caps.

If your cap is 5 gigs. You sure as hell cant be streaming radio all month.

It's sad the competition sucks so bad in north america that hidden costs really are the limits between packages.

i could never survive on 5gb, i think between Ventrilo and WoW(patches not included) i move more then that. add on other people in the house and then my own usage of Hulu or other similar sites. and the fact that even ISP video portals cannot exempt themselves from their own Caps because the Net Neutrality people would go running to the FCC.

You think 5gb cap is low?

For $40 a month. You get 1.5mbit and 400megs a month. Then 153$ per gig after that.

Sadly that's what australia is like. The cost per megabyte for australia really is outrageous.

The sad thing is... there's so little competition in north america. They'd pretty much get away with this.
