Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Titusville, FL This is not solved for me, my internet connection has virtually ground to a halt, I can't connect to any sites without the spinning hourglass and timeouts . . . . |

 | reply to ferraridom So glad I got ride of Darkhouse Networks and got AT&T DSL last month. Saw this story on the Orlando Sentinel website...my solution to your problem, switch to DSL. |
|
 | reply to ferraridom Appears to be working here in Deltona. All speeds back to normal (20/2). Not having packet drop issue any longer. |

 | reply to ferraridom They're back up in my area, Kissimmee. I need a life...they've got us hooked with this high speed stuff. |
|
 | Looking good for me now in DeLand.
Speed test results are on point. |

 | Well here is an update on WFTV. Of course it's a BS answer.. But if you know anything about this stuff, you'll get a good laugh at the comments in the article from "a viewer who builds computers for a living" apparently he's a genius. I had to comment there also.. I almost fell out of my chair.

"Oh, it's your router," a viewer who builds computers for a living said he was told. He believes the problem lies with a technical DNS issue with a Bright House server.
"DSL is around the corner," he added, referring to the alternative high speeed Internet service offered through phone companies. |

 | DSL is and always will be inferior to cable...Fiber maybe the only competitor. |

 | Yeah, I think -- I'm going to switch to AT&T U-verse. It's may not be fiber to home (it's fiber to the local switch) then copper to the home I believe. But Brighthouse/Roadrunner thinks they are the only game on the block -- not any more and AT&T as crappy as they are, they (in the past, before SBC, just personal experience) have had good customer service.

 | I've had BrightHouse for about 6 years and although technically, there are a few irregular hiccups which is expect with anything man made, but their not that bad. We are all just addicted to the convenience of high speed, which is expected, we pay for it. But I'm content for now. |

Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Orlando, FL Everyone; until when, are we going to take this! Everybody thinks they can step on us, mostly because most of us let them get away with it. Teach them how important we are, change providers, and drop Brighthouse like a brick. This happened last January, half of the users did not get credit for the outage; they take email addresses that have being used for over 10 yrs (since Time Warner was in town) with no logical explanation, reassigning them to new users exposing personal and confidential information we may get via email, and when we inquire why, they tell us to go and get a Google account to avoid this from happening. Now again we have to put up with them blaming us and our home networks for the issues, just because they cannot admit they screw up? Are we going to keep letting them get away with this? Again? Came on, this is America, the land of the people; drop them (I did) and show them, they cannot treat us this way. Drop them so that The customer is always right comes back. Drop them, so services can improve, drop them so they can realized their pay check comes from us. |

Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Titusville, FL Well, first there are no really good alternatives to Bright House. Nobody I've dealt with has such a good reliability record (this is the first major problem I've experienced in 7 years). True, this is very subjective, but so is the argument that their service is poor. Your mileage may vary; if it happens all the time, then I'd say definitely switch providers! Don't even bother to seek reassurance that it's the right thing to do.
Second, I'd be hard pressed to find equivalent speeds from other ISPs out there. Coax is by-far the best alternative for the highest bandwidth in CFL. U-Verse uses a single twisted pair into the home to provide phone, television, and internet. The speeds aren't nearly as fast as cable to begin with, and the further you are from the fiber/substation, the lower the bandwidth is achieved. Needless to say, quality on all three of these services through U-Verse is a function of the amount of congestion you create from your home network to the cloud. But one upside might be that their cable box does change channels faster than the Scientific Atlanta equipment that BH provides. Your call on this one too.
Finally, if this most recent problem was on BH's network then they would have known about it. This issue was not on the BH side of the fence and was caused by network over-load. This could easily be seen using a program like PingPlotter. Some of the routers out off the backbone had difficulty responding to simple ICMP packets, they were clearly overwhelmed with some kind of traffic. Traffic is typically elevated around the Christmas holiday, so I would not be surprised if this had something to do with it, in addition to failing equipment.
The company I have an issue with is FPL. They have had more service interruptions in the past 7 years that I can't keep track, earning them the nickname "Florida Flicker and Flash" by so many people I know. But that is off topic and the only resolution would be to move to a different town. So until and unless a company starts bringing fiber into the home at a competitive price, then I'll stick with BH. I'm not trying to convince you to stay with BH, just think about the alternatives before potentially jumping from the frying pan into the fire! |

Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Orlando, FL Drop them for who? If there was competition, they wouldn't treat customers poorly.
The only alternative I can find is AT&T DSL, which is only 6Mbps and that won't do.
I've seen wireless ISPs that cover counties but they seem like small operations and I don't know anybody that uses them. How good are they and does a 20Mbps wireless connection compare to the cost of RR Turbo? |

Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Titusville, FL Bright House said Monday that a vendor's "hardware problem" caused some customers to have trouble accessing some Web sites over the weekend. Brian Craven of Bright House said the problem was resolved at 11 p.m. Sunday. Customers will not be given a credit, "because at no time was Internet service down," Craven said in an e-mail to WESH 2 News. » www.wesh.com/news/22071288/detail.html No surprises there (about the problem or no credit) but that response just reaffirms Bright House's arrogant and ignorant stance towards everything. |

 | reply to ferraridom I had the same problem as all of you, slow performance and in some cases certain web sites would not even load. I was able to work around the problem by going to some anonymous proxies. »www.proxy4free.com/page1.html |

ruxi join:2009-02-24 Winter Park, FL | reply to kevin1984 After spending 20 minutes on the phone, I was able to get a $4.60 credit and I did not have to threaten to switch to another service.
Everyone please call in and demand a refund. The only time a corporation like BrightHouse will work to keep these types of problems from happening is if you hit them were it hurts, their pocket book. $4.60 may not seem like a lot to one person, if you multiply that by every customer who experienced problems, that’s a lot of money! |
