Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Titusville, FL That is the main issue with bright house, there is really no competition. I looked into switching to AT&T in the past, however their internet speeds are slower than bright house, and it costs more. As i work from home I need the fast speed to do my work.
Comcast is available just down the road (I know not everyone likes them, but when I had them up north they were great) and I cant wait until they come down here, if ever. I think this is one of the things the government needs to step into to fix because obviously BH doesn't care much about their customers. |

 | reply to ferraridom Additionally, I called their billing department for a credit, and the person had NO IDEA what I was talking about, and said I should talk to tech support if theres an issue. I ended up getting the person to switch us to one of the promotional packages which was about $20 cheaper per month and got me digital cable. |

 | reply to ruxi So I called BH customer service and asked for a refund. They said that their Internet dept. had no record that I had reported the outage. I did report the outage on Sunday however, my call was directly forwarded to Roadrunner and apparently when Roadrunner opens a ticket, the BH Internet dept. does not always have access to it. Crazy! Anyway, they will give me a refund of $5.99 but told me that the next time I have internet problems, call BH right away and make sure the BH internet dept. issues the ticket. |

 | That's pretty ridiculous considering a lot of us were just being courteous and not calling in becasue we knew it was an issue far greater than us specifically. Why call in, wait on hold during segments of high call volume to report something that is already known to the company? That's pretty absurd.
IMO, they should be issuing credits to all subscribers. They won't because it will cost them a pretty penny... but had they taken the time to fix the issue when it was first reported we wouldn't even be discussing this. |

 | Everyone Needs to call them and demand a refund for the service lost. I know of 3 people that got it already. I got 9.53 credited. For the 4 days of lost service. You should get credit for 4 days. I pay 74.99 a month. So thats what I got for 4 days. I hear 4.60 is what people are getting. |

 | reply to ferraridom Experienced the same in Zephyrhills last week, first they told me the modem was dropping packets and sent out a tech. I told the guy on the phone it looked DNS related as DNS latency on their servers using NSPing was peaking at over 300 milliseconds and nslookup was spouting 2 second time-outs. All the MMO games in my house worked fine, but they cache names.
Funny thing is, it didn't matter if I was pointing at BH DNS, Qwest's DNS or OpenDNS, Something on the BH net was slowing down ALL DNS, which tells me they are 1) rate limiting it or 2) (and this is the scarier one) they are filtering it. Not good...
So, the guy shows up, hooks his analyzer to the cable in the box outside and tells me its on the pole and he has to get an Installer out to re-route the cable from the pole. This is two days before new years. He tells me the guy will be out in the next day or so. No go, no word, no show. And then, it just started clearing up, on it's own, magic server self repair dust, amazing!
So, I don't want a credit, I want some of that dust. I have 2 racks of servers in the Qwest datacenter in Brandon that could really use some of that dust ;P |

 | reply to ferraridom Maybe they realized the problem was really down the street, called a main line tech and they fixed it without getting back to you. Just a thought.. -- GIT R DONE |

 | I still have to wonder then, why would it be protocol specific. If we are talking frame drops, it would have been noticeable across a wide spectrum and not just DNS, as had been reported throughout central Florida during that time frame. Either way, my post was facetious |
|
 | I still dont think it was DNS. As I did see all kinds of packet loss, To multiple places. Some stuff worked great, Some did not. I think but DNS would resolve for me every time, Without a hitch. |

 | HELP in melbourne Is anyone still experiencing connection issues? BH has told me that everything on their end is fine, Here's my issues. At first login boxes wouldn't load on the page. then the page wouldn't load. The told me it was my router. So I tested my router and to rule it out I just bought a new router last night. Still having the same issues. When I eliminate the router it seemed to still work intermittently. I see packet loss to my school and work in one trace but then none the next time I run it. When Vista does it's diagnose, it says there is a problem with my ISP, but I can't tell what its doing in the back end to prove it to bright house. I made it to tier 3 support last night, and then they hung up on me. =( any thoughts? |
