     I also thought that article was both funny, and not funny at the same time.  I wonder how many people get affected by that.

     Despite that advertising, I can tell you that while I didn't enjoy it that much, I was able to use YouTube (this was before they offered HD Video anyway) on a connection with 1.5Mbps of download.

     In fact, if a household does nothing but e-mail and simple web browsing (no YouTube or anything), I don't see why 1.5Mbps wouldn't be enough for several people.  Though granted, I can't imagine that situation coming up that often anymore.

     One could even use YouTube with dial-up (something I've actually tried before).  It's not fun, and you must wait for the entire video to download, but it can be done.
