[XPHome] Unable To Remove 2 Entries From Device Manager

Upon uninstalling Trend Micro Security there were two entries, with conflicts, remaining in Device Manager and I cannot delete them. They are:

Broadcom 440x 10.100 Integrated Controller - Trend Micro Common Firewall Miniport

WAN Miniport (IP) - Trend Micro Firewall Miniport

I could just leave them there but I cannot live with knowing there are those two conflicts. Also, I believe that is the reason for the 7B stop error when trying to get into Safe Mode.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yes, and the same entries are there. Are you suggesting removing the entries from there? If yes, I tried but they would not uninstall. I get the same message:

"failed to uninstall the device. The device may be needed to boot up the computer"

Make sure there are no Trend Micro Services left behind and running.
Also reinstall Trend Micro and then uninstall again with Revo Uninstaller.

Unfortunately, that does not apply...

"Note: If you are using a 2010 version of your program, a Dell product, or a Trend Micro program with a version older than 2005, refer to the Related Information section of this article."

Thanks

Yes, I did and that is how I uninstalled it:

"How do I uninstall Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 14 or 14.7 for Dell"

Have you tried taking out the NIC? Once that is done, restart so without the NIC installed, then shutdown. Install back the NIC, then restart. That might complete the uninstall of Trend.

search the registry for references to the two drivers left behind (actual file names i.e. tm.sys) and delete them and reboot.

Tried that but they would not delete.

may need to use a third party app instead of regedit to take ownership of the keys.

Dr. Delete is for files not registry entries and that support article refers to files and folders.

Reinstallation is not a viable option.

I did try Ultimate Boot CD and used the Registry Browser there but it did not delete the items.

Additionally, I tried a Chat at TM and they threw in the Towel! I am awaitng an email with instructions for a phone support session.

Thanks

**Update**

Finally, the issue has been resolved !

TM emailed me a utility which cleaned the Registry and Device Manager entries.

But I still get 7B stop errors trying to get into Safe Mode.

I found a .REG file, "SafeBoot" which enabled me to get into Safe Mode.

Thanks to all for your time and effort.
