Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Internet issues - Titusville, FL Wireshark showing TCP Retransmissions |
Same's been happening here for about two weeks or more. Having issues more over wireless than on wired connections from my router, running Tomato.
I've been doing Wireshark analysis on the issues, and it seems to be that there are packets being dropped at some point during the connection. The outages seem to last for anywhere from a few seconds to ten minutes long, after which the problem disappears and the site is working again. It seems to be rolling through, certain sites will work, while certain others won't.
It almost seems to be that something is waiting to time out and then after it does, the routing begins working properly again. I'm seeing the same issue where a connection is opened, HTTP GET is sent, and then there is no response. Attached is an image of a Wireshark log showing what the computer was doing over the course of 20 minutes while it said "Waiting for www.google.com". There are just TCP retransmits, trying to get the source site to respond, but not getting anything back. After a long period of time, the browser will usually just give up and drop it.
I've gone through the usual stuff, resetting the modem, upgrading the router software, and testing on wired/wireless networks, but I haven't seen any change in behavior. It helps to know that I'm not the only one too; I was at my grandparents' down in Lakeland the other day and noticed that they were having the same issue.. so it's fairly widespread. Perhaps it is an upstream problem like they're saying... |

 | Good post. I see the same things here. I'm fortunate (or unfortunate depends on how you look at it) to also have root access on a server that can't be reached. Same thing happens on the server end as well. Responds back to the initial request but never gets there and it keeps trying. Whatever it is its on brighthouses end. Even if it is their upstream provider. |

 | My biggest issue is that its 4 days in and no resolution. No problem, even a fiber cut, should take that long. Funny thing is one server I run has 10 ips on it. Some work and some don't. They are all on the same subnet too. |

 | I see the same thing. Same goes for my ip space, I have 5 statics, and some IPs get me where I need to go, others don't. |
