"Status Quo" sounds right. Another overpriced monthly plan and long contract, or supposedly substandard use with other carriers? Lame!

Not that we know for sure yet, but seriously, this is not real competition for customers. People need to be blown away by pricing at this point, because I doubt the device will be remarkably better than the iPhone.

There are reasons why some people haven't bought iPhones, and one of those reasons is the prices for plans and the device itself. Give us a data-only option that's less than $50/mo, and if you really wanna wow people, develop VOIP and give customers a ton of call time. The best way for Google to compete is to knock the cell phone companies out of their "per minute" perch and away from mandatory data plans and lengthly contracts.
