| So far, so good Bought one of these a few weeks ago. EDGE-only service in my home area (not DataJack's fault) but I have used 3G while travelling and it is great. Can't beat no contract...and certainly far better priced than the other prepaid 3G options (like the Virgin Mobile one with a 1GB cap which costs more monthly!)
Long-term, who knows. You're only out the cost of the device and what's $100 these days? |

1 edit | No, it is not. Although it does support AT&T 3G (850/1900) the device is locked. I've heard it can be unlocked but TBH I don't see any point for my use.
EDIT: I have the Option 452 device. |

EDIT: I have the Option 452 device. Man I would unlock that device if it uses 3G especially if you are only in an Edge service area. My bet is you are either close enough to a 3g area you can either get a small antenna and amplifier and pull that in and get some ripping 3G speeds. I would recommend exploring it and maybe picking up the stuff from amazon.com or 3gstore.com. Wouldn't cost much and really let you use that $40 a month you are spending.
Plus ATT 3G is not bad for speed if you are in a non high traffic area, I have gotten up to 1.8mb down easily a few times. Tmo isn't bad either I have gotten around 1.6-1.7 before.
Spend a little cash and few minutes and you can be up and off that edge probably. -- Looking to get into Avaya telco if you might be in that field hit me up I have a lot of questions. |

| reply to Gbcue Easy: no contract if you don't get one of their cards. Also, AT&T has a low-capacity prepaid option that requires you to either pay $150 for their data card or bring your own.
Again, you DO NOT have to sign a contract if you bring your own aircard to AT&T. |

| reply to RiseAbove Hehe I wish, the nearest AT&T 3G is 50 miles south and the nearest T-Mobile 3G is...let's just say a ways. I travel quite frequently now so that's primarily why I got it. Though, I could easily spend that $40 for EDGE data service around here as well so it's a heck of a deal for me. |

 | reply to iansltx Similarly with Verizon, if you BYOD or purchase one through them. |
