after my contract ends with vonage I am switching to voipo.com
It will definitely be cheaper, no doubt about it.

But you may experience problems that you didn't experience with Vonage. Read the last several weeks of the VoIP forum for examples.

Hey, there, PX.

The deal is done, and Frontier will take over exactly ten years and 1 day after Verizon did from GTE, on 7/1/10.

I don't expect it will affect me personally, but it's a shame there will not be any more rollout of FTTP in this area.

Well, I am glad they are not doing the change over a weekend.

---------------------------

We're in the heart of Verizon territory, but won't have fiber either. They did 1/3 of my town for FiOS then stopped. And they are skipping most of Boston, and all of Baltimore.

Still, you're better off remaining Verizon rather than switching to Frontier.

Unlimited Local/Regional Plus - Jan 2003 - $26.77

Basic 500 - Dec 2008 - $23.31

At which time I bolted, due to the diminishing value.

I was on the $19.95 plan and told them I was going to leave because of the taxes. I was offered and excepted the World Plan for $12.95 per month for one year.

I switched recently to Lite. Interesting how the Lite plan does not include an "Emergency 911 and Information Services Fee". I noticed this missing fee on my first Lite bill as well. I understand the free 411 is not included with lite, but I thought they would get you with some sort of emergency 911 fee still.

Vonage Lite(SM) for (01/Aug-31/Aug) $9.99
Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $1.99
Taxes & Fees
Federal Program Fee $1.14
County 911 Fee $0.75
County Utility Users Tax $0.52
State 911 Fee $0.25
Total Amount $14.64

July bill Basic 500:

Basic 500 Plan for (01/Jul-31/Jul) $17.99
Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $1.99
Emergency 911 and Information Services Fee $1.99
Taxes & Fees
Federal Program Fee $2.31
County Utility Users Tax $0.97
County 911 Fee $0.75
State 911 Fee $0.25

They've just renamed it . . . it's the "Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $1.99" line now. I'll bet they've had a LOT of complaints.

Are you sure? I ask because I have the "Regulatory, Compliance and Intellectual Property Fee $1.99" on both plans.

I pay 12.99 for unlimited. Taxes and fees pushes it to about $20.00. In May of 2004, when I started, I had the 500 minute plan. After startup costs,, my bill was about $18.
