Porting out to another VOIP

I'm not real happy with the MJ and would like to port the number to another VOIP provider (Callcentric). Does anyone think this would be a problem?

Why am I bailing on MJ? Well, its a little too low end, even as our second line to be used by the kids. We get echo problems and I really don't like dedicating a PC running 24x7 for the MJ. I find the family avoiding it because of the echo problems. I like the number we got, so I'd like to port it into Callcentric.

You must have the process initiated by Callcentric. Let them know you require LNP when you setup your acct with them and establish what type of documentation you must supply as proof of ownership of number being ported.

You best print out all the personal info on your my.magicjack page so you can substantiate to CallCentric that you own this number

Please keep us informed as to the process as you seem to be the test case for this newly announced feature. And most of all....

Great Good Luck

Port was initiated on the evening of Jan 6th. CC processed it on the 7th. Today, the 14th, they said it is scheduled to port on the 22nd. I'll keep you posted. So far its looking good.

When you enter the port info on the CC site they want an account number, address, etc of the current provider. I actually had none of that. I bought the MJ at Wal-Mart. I looked on my account online with MJ and there was no account number. I entered what I could in the CC porting form and attached a PDF printout of the MJ account login screen that showed my name and number. Thats the best I could do. To my surprise CC is making it happen.

That was interesting. I have heard a lot of complains MJ would not allow porting out. Please do keep us posted if you are lucky with the porting out.

Port OUT of MJ (into Callcentric) has been successful. I initiated the port with Callcentric on Jan 6th and the port went through today, Jan 22nd. All seems to be working fine. Callcentric didn't even blink an eye. They took my request, didn't ask for any additional info from me or have any problems.

Successful port from MagicJack to Callcentric!

I ported from MJ to Callcentric.

I printed all the info from the MJ page you log into your account. I gave it to Callcentric as part of the LOA.

I had to use my 911 address on file since they had no credit card/address info on me.

The Callcentric folks were awesome. I sent them all the info via my Trouble Ticket that MagicJack is strange as they don't ask for address or alternate phone number info when you sign up. They took note of it and it paid off later on because MagicJack *rejected* the request initially. Then Callcentric asked me if I had an e-mail or phone number to contact MagiJack. I provided MagicJacks corporate office e-mail and phone number. There was a porting date available 5 days later.

Total time was about 42 days.

Callcentric is a worth every penny as a BYOD VOIP company. I just wish they did simulring! Oh well..... can't win them all!
