The Westell is 10/100 and 802.11g. My D-Link is Gigabit and 802.11n. It's a much better router than the Westell.

I may just call up Verizon and see if they will swap out my Westell for a stand alone VDSL modem.
It doesn't work that way - since you are using the 9100VM, you are VDSL2. Verizon only uses the 9100VM with VDSL2 ONT's. There is no alternative VDSL2 stand-alone modem for your situation.
