Re: It would seem my area is already upgraded...

said by Opi :

I've got newsbin running in the background right now and am seeing 55 to 60Mbp/s on my *D2* modem. I am a 16/2 (pre D2 tier) customer. I was on the phone with them a few days ago about another issue and mentioned that speeds seem better lately. They mentioned that the D3 upgrades were happening locally and also told me only the 50Mbp/s tier would require a D3 modem.

Speakeasy.net's speed test is reporting 35Mbp/s down, 5Mbp/s Up.
thats great...but exactly what area is your area?

@comcast.net

Mustang 46 - New Have/Lenox/New Baltimore area. I believe the signal out here is fed from the Comcast bldg at 26/Gratiot.

Coke - You are probably right, I must be seeing caching on the newsreader with that 60Mb/s speed. I defiantly have a D2 modem. SB5101 that I bought on my own about a year back. I'll take the speakeasy numbers as 'accurate', ran it on a few machines in the house and averaged ~31Mb/s. 2 weeks ago my averages were around 17 with bursting about 22.

What I'm curious about now is if they are going to change the modem config file to limit the connection to the new advertised speeds.
