| Comcast starts, Verizon stops, la la la.. Comcast continues it's upgrading of docsis 3.0 upgrades, though it's very doubtful there will be many residential customers putting up $100 for the entry level tier that would NEED the ugprade of a new cablemodem (though, wouldn't it be NICE of comcast to upgrade everyone to docsis 3.0 and use that extra bandwidth to provide the FULL BANWIDTH TIER YOUR ALREADY PAYING FOR 24/7/365 such as a FTTP build can). Verizon will probably only upgrade new areas as necessary, choosing to focus in the 20-50 billion already committed. Therefore the geographies already served are worth _slightly more_ than geographies which are broadband black-holes (read crappy dsl, qwest land, or a single superior carrier, monopolies, etc). Still attached to that 250gb cap per month probably a secondary reason Verizon stopped building and/or committing to new geographies. The primary one is obvious.. there are no more "cherries" on the vine, the rest are sour rotten grapes-- no dobut that Verizon would begin to covet with lobbyists should anyone try to build there.. what a waste. |
