I have some lower spec'd XP laptops @ work that version 4 slowed to a crawl. So, I went back to 2.7 on them. If they are still in use by then, I'll have to switch to something else... |

Same here, HA Nut , got one on a straight Win 98 box that would choke totally on a 4.x build, as you say, time to start looking for something else. Edit to add:Althoughquote: Virus Signature Database updates and customer support for NOD32 Antivirus 2.7 will be discontinued on February 1, 2012.
So, that is not that bad of a thing that ESET are pulling the proverbial plug immediately. That gives folks time to shop around. |

Hi guys,
I don't see reason to panic for the nearby future: you can still keep using your 2.7 until 1 Feb 2012 |

i see them saying you can't buy it after feb 1.... how does one buy it today? i see no links nor see it listed in store. I also see a dos version listed under 'other products' but again no way to actually buy one.
I do plan on keeping a 98 machine in my collection. |

ESET has removed all links for the 2.7 version installations. For those that still run this version it will still be supported as already described in this thread. If you have an installer of this build on-hand, keep it since you will no longer be able to download it directly from ESET. |

That no longer works for 2.x builds, unfortunately. |

Yep, they pulled it. I sincerely hope that Eset gets something going that is lighter than 4.x. Resource-wise, it and 2.7 are light years apart... |

said by HA Nut:Yep, they pulled it. I sincerely hope that Eset gets something going that is lighter than 4.x. Resource-wise, it and 2.7 are light years apart... The Beta » ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.2 BETA released seems to be a step in the right direction as ESET is leaning folks toward using it in lieu of some of the more recent 4.x builds which do have some bugs. Edit to add:The 4.2 Beta is NOT [Paid] - sorry about that folks, all that would like to test-drive are welcome. |
