Re: [360] Kicked off xbox live when another xbox signs in. yeh i understand you have 2 different ip's but those ip's are internal ip's. Your REAL external IP is the same. So if you both play a game you both have the same ip's and the game cannot tell the difference and kicks one. Thus the need for static outside ip's. -- Opinion is just a word people hide behind to try and justify them believing stupid things. It sure is easy to believe in something completely and totally stupid, say it's your "Opinion" and then everyone has to respect it. |

2 edits | Well it only happens at night when my connection is barely getting over 1mbps. I should be getting 15mbps but more likely 12-15. They claim it should be fixed this week. When we tried it around noon we were both able to log on with no problems when my connecion was pulling 10. -- Mets, Cowboys, Devils |

The internal IP's are behind NAT (assuming there's a router involved that provides that) which controls the distro of the gaming packets. The WAN ip then sends out to the network. Same on the incoming to the router. Based on you're statment it would be pretty much impossible for any network w/ 1 WAN ip to do anything, right? Gazillions of connections out there behind NAT using same ports outgoing from a router. This is where UPnP can come into play w/ proper set up from the user end.
Thought the Msoft response of the "double or triple bandwidth" needed was hilarious. This is a true testament that they don't know WTF they are talking about. Yes, different games inherently require different bandwidth needs, but usually you've no idea what those needs are.
Description of setup is somewhat vauge here and w/o really knowing anything about the ISP side FIOS, cable, DSL ??, tend to think this may be more related to the OPs setup than anything else. I've run multiple Xbox's on my network w/ no problems and that's with cable or DSL, it's all in the setup.
Just my 2c. |
