What I'm trying to get to is this:
Is this modified firmware? If so, by whom? Can you make public the modifications? Is it sanctioned by D-Link?
A lot of user would be happy with the ability to roll back to earlier versions. Most, I think, would prefer patches to fix the issues through supported channels.
If this stuff bricks the router, you're going to have some pretty unhappy folks. |

I do not have firmware 1.01 on the ftp dlink also no need firmware 1.01 might be able to make the patch firmware |

I can't make out a thing you're saying...sounded like you didn't or couldn't find firmware 1.01 look here ftp.dlink.com/Gateway/dir825/Firmware/dir825_firmware_101.zip. This is the Revision A1 with Ubicom cpu, one of your posts states...this source can I do to other routers series DIR-6X and DIR-8X that on chip UBICOM. What does this mean, can it be done or even if it could work, will I not be able to go as far back as 1.01? As it stands I can go back as far as 1.10, which is a single step up from 1.01. Here's my predicament.. |

www23 is saying that he modded the firmware himself by doing some Hex editing to allow the flashing process to downgrade. The very thing that DLink support has insisted could NOT be done, tho they never said why except that it couldn't be done.
Prudence would dictate that if you are having issues with the latest dlink FW and YOU want to downgrade past dlink allows, you can use www23's modded FW to get past that block, and THEN re-flash using the dlink FW of your choice.
Sorry if I am butting in....I am not meaning to do so... |

They are the unlucky ones who want to downgrade to 1.12.

I had a DGL-4500 and a DIR-855. When the firmware is upgrade, I no longer get speeds up to 270 to 300 mbs. If you look at the status tab in the router, it will tell the actual speed. I only get 81 mbs. So If anyone can get me back to the factory firmware, it would be greatly appreciated. |
