Anon | Verizon Isn't That Bad Not for me anyways
I turned on my computer on Monday 12/4/00 couldn't get email came to dsl reports ran speed test was only getting 7kbs down and 1kbs up.
Called Verizon at 5:45pm ran winipcf had 17% packet loss they ran a few tests called me back in 10 mins. and said that they weren't showing any loss packets or any problems
I thought wow this is going to suck big time. He told me he would contact my local company and would send a tech to my house on Tuesday if they had to.
Well on Tuesday I came home from work and and turned on my computer everything seemed fast and ran speed test got 665/down 121/up I was really happy I'm sure you all have felt that feeling.
Then i thought i should call verizon and tell them everything was okay , but then figured why bother cause ive dealt with other ips and they already know its fixed Right.
Wrong!!!!
Well At 5:10 Verizon called me and told Me the Problem was on there end and that they where working on it I said well i think its fixed already .....the guy was as surprised as i was.
In 6 years on the internet and 5 or 6 ips for 56k I've never had one call me and say that the prblem was on there end usually they always say its got to something wrong with my set up
Im just happy that they Know what there doing here |

| Glad you got such good service. Im hoping to find out some day, I just wish they had not over sold or at least not give me the 30 days and at 30days I hear any day now, but a friend nearby ordered a week ahead of me and he was just told another 30 - 45 days.. But I have no modem no hookup and now no sales rep, I usually only email him on mondays but havnt heard a thing from him now.
Maybe he reads DSLReports and saw me complain .

Homer JMmmm, Free Goo join:2000-10-05 Springfield | The delays sounds like your local CO is out of equipment. Unfortunately there is little that can be done about it, but to wait and be patient. The company making the equipment is making it as fast as they can, but can not keep up with the demand(rumor was GTE management suggested they build another factory to keep up with the demand). -- If you explain so clearly that nobody can misunderstand, somebody will. |

 | reply to W7PSK Washington is a little hairy at the moment with CO equipment. We're getting it installed as fast as Fugitsu can make the stuff. Right now WA is one of our top priorities, but unfortunately Fugitsu just can't keep up with the demand at the moment. We're constantly calling them bitching about production, and even gone as far as to say if they want to keep our business do what you have to do. period. hire more employees, shit, build a new factory. | Well It would be nice if they would slow the sales some. Sheesh they are advertising likes its going out of style up here. Every where I turn (Including my Mailbox) im getting the Verizon DSL ads. Plus my sales droid giving me the old any day now pitch even though I dont even have my modem. I just Finally recieved a message from him and he Finally stated the end of the month "MAYBE". So now Im pushing when My ISP is up. Their Dialup service has went in the toilet, and I want out (Good excuse to give the wife to get DSL, Tied to her getting phone back was a lead pipe cinch to get DSL).
But now I guess Ill lose service for a while if they go beyond the 31st now. BUGGER

 | I totally agree with you there. I know you're frustrated, how ya think the techs feel? "what?? I have to wait HOW LONG?" all day long. It's getting better tho, at one point the DOR list was 4+ months, it's down to around 45 days. -- You! Off my planet! |

| Well I just found out through a Tech Rep contact that its worse than I thought. My CO is wired with DSLAMS and My line is hooked up and ready (He called my CO and talked to them).
The Problem - GENUITY or VERIZON ONLINE has 0 zip nada IP's left and the person he talked to said they are not trying nor are they going to try to get anymore. What crapola, they are selling like hot cakes yet they have 0 IPs available in Washington and Oregon. Arrrrrgh.
Who can I write in Verizon online to get them off thier KEESTERS and get more IPs -- Rick Scott Everett, Washington ordered 11/05/00 In DSL Neither World |

 | that's odd. who did you speak with? at what number? I can't see that being true. Sure, Verizon does some things a little ass backwards sometimes, but that makes no sense to me at all. -- You! Off my planet! |

| Well, Im not sure whether I can tell you or not. I didnt ask him that. But, he reads the board so maybe he will drop by the thread. I have his Email. But, he called my CO an verified that I was set up and had an account manager that he knows (that is not my sales droid) check my account and its on hold for Verizon online. He called them and verified that is the reason is they are out of IP's and have no plan or date or whether they will get more. So now its basically next in line gets the next one that is turned in. He said it could be days, weeks or months depending on when cancellations come in.

 | ok, I can understand why you wouldn't tell me... It was either NCSC or EPG that told ya that, If he reads DSLR and posts, I bet I know who it is ;o) The reason I ask is just to see where the information is coming from so I can confirm it for my own records/knowlege. Not that I don't believe you or anything, I just want it confirmed from Verizon before I mention it to a customer. I'm just a level 1 tech, not management, supervisor or any of that stuff.
If that tech does read this, please contact me so I can confirm that. Jason Verizon Select Services DSL Support Team 888.467.2295

urbmanPhasers Locked On Target join:1999-06-25 Niagara Falls, NY | reply to W7PSK I can say that the Northwest has had some troubles as of late. I remember a time where we were told not to sell to customers in that area as there were no more available circuits. That took about 2 months to be resolved. I don't think for a moment that GTEI will not want all the revenue from that area. Just be patient or switch your service to a company that has open circuits. -- The only difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

| Uber Im stuck twix a rock and hard place. The 39.95 price was just enough in the range to appease the SWMBO. Also most of the ISP's around here that have access are higher in price than the Verizon deal and limit the number of Bytes (usually 1 Gig). I play Warbirds and Aces High and could top that per month (not likely but possibly) and would really exceed the price limit of the wiffy/bank.
I really think that Verizon online needs to get off their behindies and get some more IP's. I don't know what the problem is or what's going on but Im sure UUNET (which I think is their Upstream) has bunches more available.

urbmanPhasers Locked On Target join:1999-06-25 Niagara Falls, NY | I would tend to agree with you. I am not sure who else offers dsl in that area that is not affiliated with Verizon/GTE. The only thing I can say if you really want the lower cost is just to wait. In areas where this happens, i.e. WA, OR, and KY, it does take some time. I will check it out. -- The only difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits. |

I would try to get whomever is processing your order to get a circuit set up for you so you can get an installation date. Since you're involved in discussions with an equipment vendor, can I assume that you're reasonably high up the food chain there? Would you have any success or likelihood of success getting us poor East Coasters some better service from the other half of the company? Which division of Verizon do you work for?
