Hot water heater flue baffle
From my understanding, when reinstalling a flue baffle in a hot water tank, the tabs on the side slide into the notches on the water heater flue. Are there any draft or venting issues that could occur if the baffle were not installed this way? Or am I wrong and this is a non-issue?

You should try to seat the spiral baffle tabs in the slots as best you can.
The way to test it, after reconnecting the flue pipe fire it up and after five minutes of operation, pass a lighted match along the lower edge of the draft diverter. The flame should be drawn in to the flue. If the flame gets snuffed out and you feel heat coming out, you have spillage, which is a serious condition in that the chimney is not venting properly.

Probably a non-issue, can you post a pic of it so we can verify?
Basically, if you're not restricting the flue, its fine.
if it aint broke, tweak it!!
