PPP on dialup

I head somewhere that if you have two phone lines into your house, you can use a PPP process to speed up your internet connection.

Can anyone tell me in plain language if this is true, and what do I need to do to get it up and running.

What you are looking for is Multilink PPP.
To do this you need two dialup modems, two phone lines, and two accounts at the ISP.

In addition special software is used at both ends to stripe the data over both lines. The end result is higher speed by combining both links. However latency is not significantly reduced.

Best place to start is to contact your dialup ISP to see if they support it. It was more common years ago as a way to support 128 kbps ISDN (using both ISDN circuits).
