Re: [Newsgroups] 20th Century Fox & Others v Newzbin This can be bad for Usenet! NZBs are beneficial to Usenet. This case is just like "Piratebay" all over again. |

 | perfectly fine? unabated ease of access?
cmon, you're not giving nzb's any credit at all. |

I use to refuse to try nzbs but one day decided to see what the fuss is about. Yeah they are nice but you still need to not use nzbs sometimes. Depending on how quick you want something. It can take a while for stuff to be indexed as a nzb. Not everything but it does happen. Like 70 to 200 days + |

 | I know but the point was:
Do you really want to go back to the days of downing headers, translating obfuscated postnames.
I come from the days when there was "nothing" on usenet, and then posts had to be uuencoded/decoded.
Big pain in the ass.. I sure don't want to have to go back to that.
Sheesh, that'd be like going back to the horse and buggy practically.
Could I/we do it? Sure.
Do we want to? Fck no!
I'm sure you feel the same. |

Nah. I like my NZB files. |

 | reply to Ryan It seems most here forgot or never experienced the days of searching for posting in the groups and manually UUencoding files in a txt editor. |
|
 | I remember using Trumpet Winsock and Forte Agent back in the day. |

Maybe not forgotten, but to be honest, in my opinion those methods are not a feasible method anymore for many users and the groups they use. There is simply to much traffic to go through manually for what may or may not interest you. You would almost have to update and sort every hour to keep up. -- Block Accounts | UseNet Now |

 | reply to swintec The manual uuencoding is of course not feasible but a simple search can get you what you need without the use of newzbin and other indexing sites. |

I have to say though, newsbin pro does it really well and is pretty quick at it also. Pretty much instant searches which is nice. Only reason I dont do it that way is just a way to save space, but if it came down to it I dont think I would mind that much going back to downloading headers. |

| Probably just a nag for being allowed on the site for free. Mine's been stuck at 409 days for quite a while now. I think they are still accepting top offs so that might be why. I'm thinking of topping mine off some more just to donate a few bucks to them. Right now they are the tip of the spear against MPA and RIA. |
