Re: Waste of tax dollors

said by Modus:

ok but in any case spending that money on that project right now is not important. I'm sure that money can be used for something else that can have a greater impact.
The thing that's amazing is how it will be just a *gravel* landing strip for $14 million dollars?

The labor in that area should be cheap. A half-mile of gravel should cost less than $1 million.

It sounds like they're importing gravel and machinery (plus operators) from more expensive areas. So, the stimulus will be for those areas (and the mariners who transport everything).

yes.. you'll buy the gravel for 1 million and how does it get there?... how much do you think it'll cost to have it flown to that location?... sounds like the only way to access it is by flying after all.

How many people that live in that community can drive or are licensed to drive a car let alone a dump truck, grader, steam roller etc. ?

Labour should be cheap... do you think they're using shovels?... sure if they're hiring people to use a shovel or a pick axe and if you don't mind the project taking a hundred years.

This project is NOT in an urban area.. you have to look at the logistics.

edit:
googled the village
»maps.google.ca/maps?hl=en&source···c=A&sa=X
looks like shipping it in would be possible BUT the cost of shipping that amount of gravel??
