3 edits | SMC8004CM - Not fully compatible with Comcast DOCSIS 3.0 I've got a SMC broadband modem, SMC8004CM.
My ISP, Comcast, has upgraded my area to the new DOCSIS 3.0 Performance Tier speeds; 12Mbps down, 2Mbps up. I'm not getting the new speeds with the SMC. They tested a SA 2.0 modem, and it gets the new speeds just fine.
Update: I'm now being told even though the SMC is operating in 2.0 mode, it's still not compatible with the new tiers, and I need another modem; either rent one from Comcast or buy a new one. |
