Being that I live at the junction of slow and lagging in Hooterville I wonder if Lake County will be the last county in Florida to be upgraded? We seem to be the last to get technology upgrades.
You are very observant. Unfortunately there are many homeowners that are forced to use Hughsnet or Wildblue for internet access in this area. I have made numerous posts that broadband deployment in this area has more holes in it than a round of imported Swiss Cheese. There are even some new subdivisions I have visited that were in some cases pre-wired for cable that was never activated because of issues between the various ISP's and the developers. There are other sub divisions that were not pre-wired for cable because of insufficient customer passes per square mile.
Some areas have Comcast some have Brighthouse and others have Florida Cable. All three seem to use the same Modus Operandi, unless they can see a five minute payback they won't provide service. The local telephone company CenturyLink has not installed DSLAMS in many areas, leaving consumers to suck wind when it comes to internet access. Unless there is a government run national broadband deployment it will be a long time before broadband will be ubiquitous in this area or across America.
