Comcast will have 100% of their customers having Docsis 3.0 by the end of this year. And something like 20% of all internet users in the US get their internet form Comcast. |

Given that D3 is a headend upgrade, I'd think it would be rather easy to upgrade an entire area to D3. |

By geography, one can compare the haves (competitive areas) with the have nots (monopoly, as in not even a telco broadband company) when we're talking about D3 upgrades.. as for me, I have Fios 25/15. Docsis 3 from Cablevision will need to do ALOT better on price to compete with that. The more important point is that docsis 3 broadband tier(s) are not MAINSTREAM yet, though it is clearly in the works to offer something over the 38mbit down 12mbit up as a mainstream tier if not THIS year sometime early next year (for around $50-$65 stand-alone pricing or bundled pricing-- perhaps higher, but I think the residential market won't bite on a higher price). |
