Re: New ATI Catalyst Drivers--10.1

i havent had any issues with my 5870 nor with the new drivers.
Did you have problems before?

I had problems with my 4850... people kept telling me it was heat (it wasn't... ever got over 30C)... then it was my PSU (I put in a 650W ... replacing my 550W... which had more amperage on the 12V rail... )

I swear it is a driver issue.

I built this system in Oct. 08... and was fine until June of 09... and had problems ever sence.

Was thinking of going to nVidia but I have heard there are problems with those as well.

And you would be correct! The solution I have found is to revert all the way back to version 9.4 but you would also be watching the performance go right out the window. The thing is, I don't think even ATI knows how to fix it. After that many driver releases you would think this problem would finally get fixed but nope, it still exists.

nope. this has been the most problem-free video card/driver experience ive had in computing. my 4870x2 was a nightmare even before it died.

Well, here is something to throw us for yet another loop.

My cards are a 4870 and a 4850 in crossfire with the 4870 being the main card. I mean it makes sense to make the more powerful card the main one right? After some more testing I reversed that order and made the 4850 the main card instead. So far everything is stable but I'm giving it more time just to be sure.

Like you I kept changing things, buying other things, only to be stable for 3 or 4 game sessions and have the crashing start up again.

I'll give it a week then report back, that's if I don't start crashing again, then I'll be back sooner with a report lol.
