To help you understand, remember that AOL (as an ISP) was hated by technical folks, but loved by its non-geek customers. Its exactly these non-geek customers that love the iPhone and who will love their iPad.
This is going to be successful. The question is whether it is going to be mildly successful or tremendously successful. I won't buy an Apple product for myself, but I've bought some Apple stock for myself.
