Re: Still waiting...

I couldn't agree more. I am a fan of Apple products but this just seems completely ridiculous. If it was running more of an OS X type operating system then I could understand a bit more but this is essentially an oversized iPod Touch.

No thanks!

I am no Apple fan and do not plan to buy an IPad. But, when Applications designed for it come out, it may well turn out to be more useful than it seems right now. Some examples:

-A Word like application for taking notes.
-A mapping tool - oh wait, no GPS.
-A PowerPoint like application for creating and making presentations.
-Using a bluetooth headset and WiFi and VOIP to turn it into a phone.

I think that by six months after launch, there will be some compelling applications. Just not enough for me.

The iPad can do all of these things now. Notes exists for taking, well, notes. Jobs did a demo of location in Maps--it may not be true GPS, but it'll show you where you are. iWork is available, which gives you document and presentation capabilities. And you can currently use it for VOIP calling.

1 and 3 are taken care of already; iWork will be available for the iPad. 2 is taken care of; the iPad comes with Google Maps and the 3G version has aGPS. 4 will probably be taken care of as well.

Actually wrote a post on this...it's the first one on my site. If there's an app for everything I list, Apple has made a successful product. Otherwise people will stop buying soon after it comes out because "ooh shiny" isn't good enough.
