Mobile industry has clearly chosen LTE over WiMax

The reasoning given in that article is absurd.

quote:
upcoming LTE launches by companies such as Verizon showed "a clear direction taken by the industry towards LTE"
Since we've known for the past 2 years these companies were going with LTE, why is it an indicator of anything at this point? That's like announcing that today's use of AC current shows it the clear victor over a DC infrastructure.

Yep. Also, for fixed wireless WiMAX is relatively widely deployed and LTE isn't. LTE will likely win for mobile and deployments on licensed spectrum (possibly Clear will even switch) but for smaller operators who don't have the luxury of spectrum all to themselves WiMAX is available and LTE isn't.

its just Lucent trying to spin so they can sell product...they quit working on their wimax product and switched to working on LTE product.

WiMax is in operation... it works.... check Korea and parts of the U.S.

LTE... it might work... it might not... wont know for years.
