[counterstrike] need some Q's answered.

Ok, got a person that has a machine, every time he fires up counterstrike the ping times increase 3x than what they do if he does not use it.

Now without the game loaded the pings to the CS server seem to be acceptable (20-25ms is what is claimed)

Now when he fires up the game this goes to something between 90-150ms easily)

Any other time he surfs webpages and such, the DSL is fine, sync is fine and no errors from anything I can see even within the last 24 hours. I even queried the port and there has been no sync drops.

apparently this problem either started 2 months ago or something of that nature.

Thoughts?

P.S. one thought I had was no one likes the CS guy on the server so they wait till he's on and DDoS him is my underlying thought.

so hes losing sync? or no?

CS/CSS adjusts players ping times server side to give a balanced competition....so someone with a 12ms ping doesnt pwn everyone.....

So this problem is isolated to one server?

Ok apparently it's to multiple servers including the closest one in San Antonio, TX.

see that's what I have been up against, anything else his dsl is fine, fires up the game the ping times go to crap.

Latest rendition is I am having him run pingplotter when he fires up the game just to see if there is a difference.

What are the specs of your friend's computer? Does he have alot of programs running in the background? Tell your friend scan his system for viruses and spyware.

I think that's what I suggested next, because so far nothing else is making any sense. I will have to check with my person today to see if anything has changed.

I will let you guys know though, and thanks ahead of time.
