[Unstable] Q6600 OC Problem

Not sure I have this in the right place...

This is my setup:

Intel Q6600 Quad Core OC'd to 3.4GHz
Gigabyte GA-P35_DS4 Mobo
4GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800 64C5DHX
EVGA GeForce 8800GT 512MB 256 Bit GDDr3 Video
(3) WD Caviar RE2 320GB Sata 3.0Gb/s HDD's
(2) WD Caviar Black 1 TB Sata 3.0Gb/s HDD's
Enermax Infinity EIN720AWT ATX12V/ EPS12V 720W PSU
Scythe Ninja CPU Cooler
Win 7 Pro x86 and XP Pro x86 Dual Boot
Built: March 2008

This has been running at 3.4 for many months without any problems.
Yesterday I noticed that Everest reported my CPU was running at 2.4 CPUZ also reported the same thing. I checked the bios and it was still set up for the 3.4 OC.
I didn't change any hardware or any bios updates.

I reset the bios to the default 2.4 settings but Win7 would not start. Stated it needed to do a repair (which wasn't able to fix the problem)
I am able to boot into XP and then did an image restore including MBR of my Win7 install. I rebooted and Win7 started OK.

I then tried to OC to 3.0 to check things and the same thing happened. Reverted back to no OC and did another Image restore.

I'm not sure where the problem could be. What would your suggestions be as to a probable cause?

Running stock speeds now, everything running ok at these settings.
Ran HD Tune on my HDD's Health and Error check didn't find anything.
Ran Prime on the CPU for about a 1/2 hour that didn't cause any problems.
Bios version is F13. F14 is available.

Edit: Also ran Win7 memory diagnostics which didn't show any errors.

Possibly no problem. If SpeedStep is engaged, that's the lower clock speed. Start using the computer and it will jump to the regular overclock.

Thanks, however it was set to run full all the time.
I checked that first thing when I noticed it.

-If some aspect of your OC is wrong, a Gigabyte board will usually advise you of a reset/error in the oc section of bios.
-Are your ram settings, multiplier and voltage (per-SPD) also ok?
-Did you remember to increase your cpuV appropriately ?
(My p35/q6600 needs 1.4125v-bios for that 3.4ghz speed)
-Like DKS said, are you sure your checking that clock speed under full load?
-Have you checked to make sure all those "other" power saving features are disabled ?
-Maybe a cmos reset, might be stuck in a loop ?

Possibly the CPU voltage was set too low.
I'll try a cmos reset and configure the OC again.

Reset CMOS.
Made sure everything was set right in the bios.
Changed the CPU voltage to 1.4
Set it to my original OC settings.
Booted up without any problems, and seems to be holding OK.

Thanks for the suggestions, hopefully this will do it.

Nice. I can only get my Q6600 up to 3.21Ghz before cores fail in prime95. However temps remain under 70C. Which sucks because with my thermalright 120 extreme black with scythe fan I have done 3.6Ghz without temp issues but the cores do not like it and hardware error in prime95 stress tests.
