yes, you can use a USB Hub.
I purchased the MoFi 3G 3500 router for one of my clients .... expected to arrive next week ... so I will be testing this out and if it works with a USB Hub THAT will certainly be very unique and most impressive for this class of gear.

For readers of this thread -- I will post my results.

I have now used the MoFi for a few weeks now. I can honestly say that for use with the Rocket Stick, it is simply great! Not one disconnect and the speeds are on a par with plugging the Rocket Stick directly to the computer. Presently my computer is connected to the MoFi via the Ethernet LAN port and I can also connect other devices (iPhone, Wii, etc.) via WiFi. The only suggestion that I would make is that if you are connecting to the iPhone or Game console, you should probably disable the requirement to log in to connect.

Not only is the connection through the MoFi more stable than either of the Cradlepoints, the WiFi signal is also much stronger so I can use other devices from farther away.

Router arrived and much to my surprise [and shock] connecting a USB HUB to the MoFi 3G 3500 router worked to power the Rogers Rocket Stick plus a HP Photo-smart USB Printer --and Yes I was very surprised that both printer and Rocket Stick worked well -- so the MoFi firmware does have very special capabilities not found in other wireless Routers that I have so far tested [and I have tested -- many]. Only time will tell how stable the MoFi will turn out to be but as of now I am very impressed with the MoFi solution from a Rogers Rocket Stick perspective.

IF you are going to use a USB HUB with this router -- positioning the HUB is important -- IF the Rocket Stick does not have sufficient "AIR" Internet connectivity can be spotty --- I found that as long as the Rocket Stick was Vertical placed in the USB HUB connectivity was stable in the period of time that I was testing [4 hours] -- if the Rocket Stick was horizontal [lying flat on a desk while connected to the USB HUB] then internet connectivity was very spotty - so positioning the USB HUB and making sure that the Rocket Stick has AIR is the better configuration -- so the type of USB HUB needs to be factored in.

IN so far as the "N" Router wireless capabilities go -- I had one wired computer connected to the MoFi LAN port and one wireless computer using "N" interface using WPA2-AES and throughput WAN/LAN was good -- wireless was not exceptional but certainly good -- as time passes on that will determine how well this wireless Router stands up.

IMO, the MoFi 3G 3500 router is a good Rocket Stick sharing solution for people that have no other alternative for high speed connectivity and want to share that connection.

The MoFi is now installed in my Client's location [Carp Ontario] so as time passes I will be in a better position to comment on their experience assuming problems crop up. BTW, My Client had XPLORNET prior and were very unhappy with the XPLORNET satellite performance --- the Rocket Stick is dramatically faster [consistently so] and much more reliable.

Re: MoFi 3G 3500 router and T-Mobile Stick

I am in Florida and just purchased the Mofi and am having problems getting it to work with a T-mobile stick. Downloaded the latest firmware from their site but still not supporting. Anyone know how I can get the unit to work with the T-mobile stick.

UPDATE: I had to remove the USB HUB -- Client complained of far too many issues using the USB HUB with this Router;

issues like the Internet dropping frequently and the inability to get scanning and faxing working using a HP multifunction USB printer. While connected to the USB HUB Printing worked however the greater concern in this specific environment was the very unstable Internet connectivity.

Perhaps future firmware may solve the multifunction aspects. Insofar as the Internet dropping frequently when using the USB HUB I did not have enough time to determine what may be the issue but I do suspect positioning [AIR] the USB HUB is at the root of the internet connectivity issue. Using a USB HUB will require significant testing.

At this time I strongle advise against the use of a USB HUB with the Mofi Router.

We have tested the unit with the Rogers Stick and a cheap USB hub: Cable Unlimited Model: USB-1810 and there has not been any disconnect with the hub and the stick.
A Canon ink jet printer was attached and we can print and use the 3G stick perfectly with no issues.

If you are looking to use the printer just for printing and the 3G stick and have a decent signal to begin with, there should be no issues using a hub with the MOFI3500-3GN.

We did noticed there is a drop in signal strength for the 3G signal when the hub is connected so unless you have a decent signal to begin with, I would not recommend a hub to use either.

For those that live in areas where the signal is weak, you should look into an external antenna for the stick providing that the stick has an antenna input.

The MOFI router was designed by a Canadian company and the first goal was to focus on the Canadian providers which they have done and all providers in Canada with all sticks currently covered.

The next step which work has already started was to do this for the USA market.

The USA market is very large and has many small providers.

The router is working with various sticks from each provider but there are about 15 new sticks that are in the process of being implement for the US providers including the UM175

As such, for any customer buying the router in the US, I would recommend them to send an email to MOFINETWORK to verify that their stick will work until this new firmware is released.

UPDATE: More feed back from my Client -- when the Rocket Stick is plugged directly into their Computer USB port they are getting significantly more bandwidth.

Hopefully Mofi will sort this out and provide a fix.

UPDATE: more testing done via »www.speedtest.net/

When the Rogers Rocket Stick [model ZTE MF668] is plugged directly into the Computer USB port download bandwidth is consistently between 7.2 Mbps and 7.8 Mbps ---- upload bandwidth is consistently between 0.60 Mbps and 0.66 Mbps

When the Rocket Stick is plugged directly into the Mofi Broadband 3G Wireless N Router's USB port download bandwidth is consistently between 2.1 Mbps and 2.5 Mbps ---- upload bandwidth is consistently between 0.25 Mbps and 0.31 Mbps

So IMO, there is a major problem with how the Mofi firmware manages the Rogers connection via the Rocket Stick.

For those interested the model of Rocket Stick being used in my comments above is shown here
Description:
The HSPA+ RocketTM stick gives you safe and secure Internet access on your laptop without the need for a Wi-Fi connection. Featuring download speeds up to 21.6 Mbps*, you will be able to access your files, send and receive email and attachments, browse the Internet and more, all from your laptop.

Rogers Stick in MOFI
Hello, I have done more tests even today and cannot reproduce any loss of signal.

At approx 3PM Sunday April 04, 2010 I have ran some tests

I have got the following:
On the PC:
Download speed: 6.21
Upload speed: 2.84

With the MOFI3500-3GN router on same stick:
Download speed: 7.51
Upload speed: 2.96

(these results are the peak values after running multiple tests)

Notice that with the MOFI router, the speed was actually more than in the PC.

I have done these tests on other sticks and from my testings, I have had all cases where the connection is virtually the same or even a bit faster with the MOFI router.

It would be great if others can test and report as we all would gain to have a better connection if it is something to do with the router.

Kind in mind the following when testing:

Make sure you run the test at least 5 times for each scenario and report the highest findings. If you run the test back to back, you will notice you might get different results.
It is important to understand that you must do these tests within the same time frame as the speeds will change throughout the day.
So run 5 test with the stick in the pc then,
put the stick in the router and run the test again 5 times
Check to make sure they are on the same server then refresh your link by pressing F5 and run the tests again.

If you have the time, do the entire test again to validate your results.

Another note, make sure you run the tests in the exact same location so put the router and the pc next to each other when doing the test in the same height as the signal levels are important.

Also, disconnect any device hooked up to the MOFI except the pc you are running the test on.
It may also be better to make sure only 1 device is connected to the mofi so the internet is not being share with any other device.

If the results can be sent to: support@mofinetwork.com, that would be great as this router is designed to perform and MOFI will do as much as they can to ensure the best in performance.

Hi guys,
I have a Mofi 3500N router with the May 06 2010 firmware. I'm using a Rogers Rocket stick ZTE MF688 USB modem with this setup. Can anyone recommend the best antenna I can use with the Rocket stick? I'm seeing mostly 0.75 M download and 0.5 M upload speed with 75% signal strength.

I have no idea about antenna for ZTE MF688.

Where you place the Mofi gear plays a huge role in the quality of the Rogers signal. My suggestion is try different locations and always remember that the higher the better [2nd floor is much better than the 1st floor -- basement is the worst location] and make sure that no obstacles are in the way of the Router. Do NOT use a USB HUB connected to this router.

Will try to find some places to get these for you later this week and will post some suppliers.

The antenna's are great and will get you faster speeds if you have a low signal coming in.

MOFI NETWORK will be getting some antenna's for this purpose later in the summer.

For most of the Rogers sticks and the Telus 306 stick,
this antenna looks good.

I have no experience with this store but found it on google

Will try to place some order and test antenna out but just passing on the info for others to look into.

Make sure you check with anyone you buy the antenna from to make sure the stick you are going to use is compatible with the antenna as there are many selections.

I do recommend getting the largest one possible and put it on the roof.

For the difference in speeds, I think it is worth looking into.
