1 edit | Who's network is it? If their security dept blocked access to/from some addresses for a security concern....that is their decision to make. If you don't agree with the management decisions made there are other carriers available..I'd rather a carrier try to be pro-active than suffer the negatives.
Bash the security guys for making a decision that impacts you in a way you actually notice for once...Nevermind all of the spam and other Bad Stuff they defend against that you don't notice until said protection fails.
I'm not a Verizon fanboi, nor do I have anything against 4chan aside from personal dislike, but even if this broke access to www.disney.com or DSLR, shit happens...If it has a customer facing impact, that wasn't intended and that is avoidable..... they'll address it.
I know, I know, if it was your network you would have fixed it already.

Suddenly I hear DSLReports is badmouthing my network. We say "Oh right for security reasons we have to block them entirely."
or if Verizon wants to be more clever. Ip spoof dslreport's ip and start flooding or ddosing some people.
Hell we dont even need verizon to be involved. I can be an internet vigilant who hates a certain website. I do this attack. Then the ISP blocks that site. When realistically it had nothing to do with them.
Afterall this is what happened to ATT. Now Verizon is claiming the same thing. Which I dont doubt for a second as 4chan recently has been getting lots of malware garbage going on.
Sorry but you shouldnt be blocking websites which have legit traffic. Some spam website or whatever... sure block it. But 4chan isnt such a site. |

Hell we dont even need verizon to be involved I'm sorry, you must have missed my thread subject and most of my post. Due to the misunderstanding, it appears you misunderstand where the 4chan IP was blocked. It was blocked within Verizon's network, not 4chan's, by Verizon. -- Baka wa shinanakya naoranai |
