sure this little company is a mess but come on they didnt leavebehind their back office support systems or something?
I am also at a total loss as to why this little company MUST provide all this broadband stuff when Verizon didnt do it? they got all sorts of tax rebates and stuff yet they didnt do it.
i love fast internet but its certainly not a fundamental right. |

Verizon had numerous different back-end systems which were consolidated into a few after the cut-over from Verizon's systems. All new software, minimal testing - no surprise that things were a mess for months after cut-over.
One of FairPoint's arguments for why the PUCs should approve the sale was that FP promised to expand broadband (DSL) to all customers within a certain time frame. Verizon had no interest in doing so, and had skimped on maintenance of the copper plant over the years.
