| reply to LaZ3R said by LaZ3R:Well freaking magical, here I am still waiting for a key, and blizzard is instead sending the keys to people who have already received them. Magical... If anyone gets an extra one and doesn't mind passing it on to me, I'd appreciate it... playing against fairly stupid AI isn't very fun What's wrong with that? Clearly testing is more involved than randomly sending out invites.
"You are receiving this email because you are currently participating in the StarCraft II beta test, and we want to encourage you to test out some of the social features of the revamped Battle.net® online-gaming service by inviting one of your friends to play with you."
Pretty clear on what Blizzard is doing, sure you might not of been lucky enough to receive an invite, but it's not like it's your right to participate. I say it's good on Blizzard for trying to test out more than just general gameplay. |

Obviously you don't know what's going on the inside. They're trying to test the social/friends system, that's why they're giving existing users keys. |

LaZ3RPremium join:2003-01-17 | reply to alamarco They're rewarding people with keys that are only going to be ending up on Ebay because a huge fraction of beta testers aren't even playing the game like they're SUPPOSED to if they truly want to help out the purpose of a beta.
Blizzard is rewarding people who have stopped playing the game most likely instead of inviting new users who have been waiting for a hell of a long time.

| Well, I think you're wrong. You don't know how Blizzard's beta process works or how they sent out keys.

| reply to LaZ3R So you're saying that most beta testers have stopped playing the game. Where are those stats to back it up? Who's to say any new beta testers wouldn't do the same? It would get Blizzard no where.
So the people who really are putting in the effort to test the game, play the game, report bugs, get rewarded by being able to test more of the game with friends. Unless you're a loner, you're going to have friends who would love to try it out too. What's better than playing with friends?
Sure some codes might go on eBay, but by just randomly giving out more invites it won't help Blizzard in what they want to test.
There's nothing wrong with Blizzard wanting to test there game. Being invited to the beta was lucky of the draw, not everyone wins. You'll get the game when it comes on on release, maybe sooner if you're lucky. |

LaZ3RPremium join:2003-01-17 | All I'm saying is they're giving beta keys to people who have stopped playing the game and that defeats their little idea of trying to test their friends/social system of battle.net. I have nothing wrong with them giving more keys to people who have been playing the game frequently, but they're rewarding people who aren't even doing what they're supposed to as "beta testers."
I never said there's anything wrong with Blizzard wanting to test their game... so stop putting words in my mouth. -- Life is a game of blackjack. You keep playing until you bust. |

| Did everyone who was in beta get an extra key? I don't know. There's only so much you can do in the game, so obviously, folks are going to stop playing it. The single player is disabled. Coop mode is disabled. 3v3 and 4v4 are disabled. All you can do is 1v1 and 2v2 multiplayer. Custom maps are a no go and they haven't realeased the map editor/creator program. -- 'A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.' -Thomas Jefferson - |

| reply to LaZ3R If there's nothing wrong with Blizzard wanting to test their game, how is giving you an invite helping? They want to test an aspect that requires 2 people to have the beta. If you don't have the beta, you aren't going to be helping them. Thus, they give keys to people who already have them in hopes they invite their friend to join them.
You assume that everyone who has the beta has stopped playing. Seems like Archivis is still playing, the rest who knows. I don't know what's going on behind Blizzard, but unless they have a way to monitor who's playing and who's not playing, the only way to achieve what they want is to send keys to people who already have the beta.
You may not of said there's something wrong with Blizzard wanting to test their game, but I am saying that Blizzard wants to test their game. So giving you a key, when you don't already have the beta does nothing in their interests. At least at this point. In the future they may require testing on other aspects that will have them send out keys to random people again. As of now, that is not in their interests. |
