| Somerset, KY - Bad Ping I switched to New Wave (only Cable provider in Somerset) about a month ago. I had severe disconnect issues with Windstream (only DSL provider in Somerset).
I purchased the 15Mbps and am fairly happy with the throughput. Off peak download speeds zip around usually over 1 MB/s. During peak hours, I have seen less than 200 KB/s.
My biggest gripe is the ping. No matter what time of the day, my ping is horrible. Let me rephrase this, horrible for gaming. If you play any type of first person shooter or any other game that needs good ping. I cannot recommend New Wave, at least not in Somerset.
I've done the trace routes, and the hop that produces the greatest amount of lag is the hop between my cable modem and the KDLnetwork. I imagine this is where New Wave pumps all their data through. So, this poor router is the usual cause of my ugly lag in games. Maybe one day New Wave will fix/upgrade their hardware and I can actually experience lag free gaming. | |

| Wow. I have had pretty good experience with online gaming. Well versus Windstream in the somerset area.
I have experienced some issues.. But not nearly as bad as it was with my previous ISP.
Of course I don't have the technical know how that you do...so I am just going from my xboxlive experience. | |
