[Speed] Fast Bittorrent/Slow Regular Downloads

Maybe I am Crazy but I think something is wrong somewhere.

Location: Nashville, Tn

Description of Problem: I have noticed for about 2 weeks to 3 weeks that the speed I have been getting when downloading files from a server seems to be peaking at around 400KB/s and normally around 180KB/sec. However, if I use on say a Ubuntu 9.10 ISO I get a steady 1.3-1.4MB/s for the entire download cept for the beginning. I have tried countless speed tests such as testmy.net and speedtest.net, and went to different webhost providers looking for speed test downloads. and I can't find one that will go over 500KB/s, and it never stays at 500KB/s and always drops below 300KB/s. This happens on
Ubuntu 9.10, Xp sp3, Vista, Ubuntu Netbook remix 9.10, and Windows 7 on firefox 3.5, ie 8.

Cable Modem: I have Arris TM602G with firmware TS060151I_061909_MODEL_6. I no longer have voice but they said not to bring the modem in to exchange it. I no longer have TV, and oddly enough I canceled last month both tv and voice.

Other Equipment: WRT54G Latest Firmware. (I have ran directly through the cable modem to PC and it didn't affect anything)

Tweak Test: »/tweak ··· a=normal

I believe im on the 12/2, but I am unsure.

Thanks in advance.

Please go here »www.measurementlab.net/m ··· iffprobe and run ShaperProbe and post your results. Also, if you could post your power levels it would be helpful as well (»192.168.100.1/)

It looks to me like you are on a 16/2 tier. Your upload is ok, but your download speeds are suffering.

Your signal levels are a little odd, but not out of spec.

I would check for old or corroded splitters/connectors and make sure your coax is RG6. A bad modem is a possibility too.
