1 edit | Too expensive - just marketing Unless it's $50-$60, these uber-speeds aren't going to see wide adoption. Price is king and people buy the cheap tier included with their double/triple play bundles. But these top tiers are typically $90-$150 and the vast majority of people aren't going to pay $100/mo just for HSI, especially in this economy.

Yes, it will be expensive at first, but over time, it will go down in price, and up in service

For some reason I still have this thing sitting in my closet.

Has Comcast ever dropped the price of their Internet service? The pattern that I saw over 3 years with them was that they kept the prices static for Internet plans while increasing the speeds. Now this will only work as long as enough customers are also subscribing to TV plans, which is where Comcast has been increasing rates on a regular basis each year, just like all of the "competition".
Your options will be expensive, more expensive, and even more expensive. But this is not exclusively a Comcast thing, as all of the major providers are guilty of running this same scheme.

They are aimed at at home workers doing graphics design and needing to move huge files around to businesses; and small businesses running hotspots off of a cable connection; etc. And they are not going to offer these speeds at the same prices they are charging for 12/2 mbps. They will be offered to by those really needing those speeds.

We don't know the upload speed so we don't know who could actually use the service. If it is only 10Mb up like the 50Mb tier, moving "huge" files back to the company is not going to be easy.
