| Laptops vs Smartphones & 3G speeds Laptops need the highest speeds they can get because of the more demanding uses that a laptop can be used for - especially large file transfers and large document processing for traveling business users. And the 3G speed improvements(and later 4G speeds) can be fully utilized.
Smartphones(let's ignore tethering in this discussion) can get by on current 3G speeds as most use is by apps(especially on iPhones) that are just moving small amounts of data. Browsing of full multimedia web pages is not as prevalent. As 4G smartphones(Sprint in a couple months) come online, then video watching and maybe video conferencing could make use of the higher 4G speeds. |
