Speed is not the issue, it's coverage

AT&T is the speed king (for now) but the issue is coverage. Even in some parts of NYC there isn't a reliable AT&T signal, while Verizon has four to five bars.

So yes, AT&T will be faster and in midtown manhattan even the provider with the worst coverage (T-MObile) will have coverage, but that's not the point.

You might want to read this post from last night's Evening Links that explains some iPhone/AT&T problems not related to available bandwidth or coverage:

agreed... i've never had problems with my at&t 3g ... when i am in the tiny little zone they actually offer 3g in...

yes their 2g (edge) is everywhere... but geeze... would it kill them to expand their 3g coverage ??

sprint has had evdo out in my area for over 3 years now... 3 years... my at&t is still poking along on edge ... *sigh*
