My coverage for AT&T is fine where I live, in the Baltimore/DC metro area. They have just about all of Maryland/Delaware/Northern Virginia covered with 3G, so I'm fine at home. The I-95 corridor in Florida is also blanketed, so I'm fine when I'm there.
If you live in a suburban area relative to a medium-sized city, you're usually fine with AT&T having 3G there.
