Maybe that's true in Ohio and Wyoming, but that's not true everywhere.

You obviously don't know how expensive housing is in NJ / the North East... A $1,000,000 home could easily be considered middle class in my area. The average 'blue collar' home is probably about $300-450k in my area.

And that $450k blue-collar home will pay at least $10k/year in property taxes in NJ. Paying $15k+ is not unusual.
