There are many new start up companies (and older ones) who now offer unlimited plants for cheap and their companies are growing.

Except...none of those actually allow unlimited use. They've just buried the limits in the very fine print as "network management" or "network degradation" actions they can take against you if you exceed what they consider to be your allotment.
Nothing has changed except that the lawyers are getting smarter.
